New Online Careers Platform

Globalbridge - For Year 8 and Year 9 students

I am writing to draw your attention to a new online Careers platform; globalbridge, which we have engaged with in order to improve and enhance post 16 and career opportunities for our students.

globalbridge enables students to record and showcase their talents, skills and qualifications through an interactive, media rich, secure online profile. Not only can they upload their academic achievements, but they can complement these with a biography, aspirations, photos, sound bites, electronic documents and even video footage such as sporting highlights, drama productions, musical performances etc.

Once a student’s globalbridge profile is live, they can use it to connect with potential colleges, universities, training providers and employers. The subscriber-only access database allows institutions and employers to promote their opportunities on globalbridge, helping young people find and connect with pathways in a way that has never before been possible. In addition, students can include their globalbridge URL on application forms, allowing employers/universities the opportunity to gain a much more realistic and detailed picture of an applicant, something which will only serve to benefit our students.

Data security is of prime importance.  Students cannot view each other’s profiles and can only search for educational establishments, universities and employer subscribers and their opportunities; they cannot search other students.

Your son/daughter will be creating their globalbridge account with me during a careers lesson in school at some point over the Autumn term. Once this is done they can then go on to create a full profile and have access to the globalbridge system for life. This will help them to continue to access post 16 opportunities after they leave St Edmunds.

As a School we feel this is an exciting new provision and in the best interests of our students.
