Disadvantaged Students
The pupil premium is additional funding provided to schools by the Department for Education. The pupil premiums is calculated according to the number of children from low-income families who are currently known to be eligible for Free School Meals (FSM), and children who have been looked after continuously for more than six months, or Service children.
This funding includes students eligible for FSM at any point in the last six years (known as the Ever 6 FSM measure). Schools are free to spend the pupil premium as they see fit, However, schools are to be held accountable for how the pupil premium has been used and new measures will be included in the performance takes that will capture the achievement of the pupils covered by the pupil premium.
