Latest Statement from the Headteacher

3 April 2020 (by Lisa Slight (lslight))

Coronavirus Update

Under normal circumstances I would be reflecting upon the spring term and the newsletter would celebrate many of the activities/events which had taken place. These have unfortunately been consumed with the Coronavirus and recent events.

Firstly, I hope and pray that all of our students and families are well and coping (as much as we can) with the ‘stay at home’ isolation programme.  These are indeed difficult and testing times, where our ‘normal lives and ways of work’ have understandably had to change.

The school has remained open and accommodated students whose families have been identified as key workers. This has varied between 14 and 24 students in a day.  School staff have continued to attend to care and educate these children and to ensure the effective running of the school. As well as setting home learning tasks for all other students. We are also mindful of the need to be ‘ready to open’ once our children are given the green light to return.

As I mentioned to you in my previous letter, the school will be closed for the first week of Easter and the Bank Holidays. This will allow staff to have the required break as indicated in the DfE guidance. No work will be set for students during this period giving a chance for everyone to recharge their batteries.
