Early Closures for all students

RE: Early Closure Dates: Wednesday 9th June and Tuesday 13th July 2021

I am writing to inform you of some key dates and events which are taking place during the Summer Term.

You may have read in our summer term school newsletter that as a result of Covid-19 the Government implemented changes and implemented a process for the allocation of Teacher Assessed Grades.  The Centre Policy – ‘Determining Teacher Assessed Grades in Summer 2021’ can be found on our school website.  These have resulted with students having to complete assessment before Easter and during this half-term which will be included in this process.  Subjects will apply a consistent appropriate utilising all the information to allocate the grade then moderate the assessments before having to submit the final Summer 2021 results to Exam Boards on Friday 18th June 2021. This involves an enormous amount of additional work and layers of monitoring and checking.

In light of this the school will finish at 12.25pm on Wednesday 9th June 2021. Food will be available for students as normal during break time.  Staff will be in school completing some of the required tasks demanded by this process.

In addition to this, I can give you advance notice of an early closure on Tuesday 13th July 2021.  Here the school will finish at 12.25pm in order to facilitate additional time for staff training which will continue until 6pm.

Should any of these early closures cause an issue with childcare, we can offer a limited number of places for students to work in our LLRC until 3pm.  Please contact your Head of Learning to arrange this.

All of our key calendar dates can be found on the website and details of events/activities re PHSE days.  I would also urge you to check the dates for the next academic year in advance of booking any breaks away.

Thank you for your continued support.
