Appointments
There will be a selection process overseen by members of SMT. Tutors and Year Heads will be consulted; comments will be obtained from other staff; pupils will be asked to complete a questionnaire indicating their enthusiasm for the job.
Authority
Prefects are acting for SMT and any challenges to their authority will be treated as a challenge to the Headteacher.
If challenged, Prefects should take the matter to Mrs Sage at present: she will decide upon appropriate action.
Insignia
Pupils will wear Prefect ties and badges.
Privileges
A Prefects’ Common Room with appropriate facilities is available during the school day. Prefects should collect a key from Mrs Sage’s room. The upkeep of the room will be the responsibility of the Prefect body.
Expectations
Prefects will be expected to support and help to enforce School Rules and, therefore, it is essential that they adhere to them themselves and that they are models of best practice. This includes appropriate behaviour in and out of the School.
Prefects may be demoted at any time at the Headteacher’s discretion.
