All are invited to join Mrs Sage after school on Wednesdays at 3 p.m.

Gardening Success - November 07

Jack Garner continues his regular work in the Gardening Club.  David can only attend on alternate weeks as he has started swimming.  However, there are two new, and keen, members, Callum Grant and Rijo Johnson

(Here, the boys are ready to start their work!)

During the course of last Wednesday’s session, the boys collected over 2 kilogrammes of green tomatoes.  They took them home to leave in a bowl of ripe tomatoes until they too had ripened for eating.

The trio cleared dead plants and weeds from two small beds, before covering them with some of the leaves from the adjacent grass and a layer of last year’s composted leaves.  Let’s see what the worms make of all that!

In future weeks, the group will look at the RHS website, weed the herb garden and they are planning to cook the 2 small squashes which have been picked and are currently ripening.

Any other pupils are welcome to join our activities

Gardening Success - July 07

Earlier in the year, David and Jack planted seed potatoes and runner bean plants on the small kitchen garden patch outside D4.  Since then, they have regularly weeded and planted some tomatoes and other vegetables.  They haven’t needed to water because of this year’s regular downpours!

On the last Wednesday of the Summer term, David and Luke dug up about 5 kg potatoes……

…… as well as picking a few beans.

Other pupils have expressed an interest in the garden.
