
      
Miss Claire Drouyer has been appointed as the new 14- 19 Vocational Education Co-ordinator at Saint Edmund's and will be happy to help pupils with the development of their career plan. Parents are also welcome to contact the department to discuss any vocational matter relating to their child.
The vocational department is situated on the 1st floor in room 125.

Aims Of The Vocational Department
- Provide up- to- date information, advice & guidance on Further and Higher Education,
- Provide help and support to pupils to further the path of their future career
- Work collaboratively with Pastoral Leaders and Heads of Learning to integrate Vocational Education to the curriculum
- To encourage pupils in their understanding of work and its environment
- To develop vocational education in school
- To develop work- related learning within the curriculum

Vocational Studies available at Saint Edmund's
There are many opportunities for you to explore in Vocational Studies, especially if you are in Year 10 or 11:
Young Apprenticeship Programme
If you are in Y 10 you can start the Young Apprenticeship Programme. At the moment we have pupils taking part in:
- Motor Vehicle
- Marine Engineering
- Retail
This is an exiting 2 year programme which combines practical and theoretical work. For one day a week you will be off-site learning in one of our provider centres in Fareham. In addition you will have the opportunity to complete a work placement where you will spend up to 50 days, over the 2 years, working and learning with industry experts.
This Young Apprenticeship programme is a fantastic opportunity to gain knowledge and experience in one of these growing industries.
If you are hard-working and well motivated and you will gain GCSE equivalence of 4, 5 or even 6 A*-C grades.
College Course
In Year 10 you could also take part in very practical course such as:
- Childcare
- Hairdressing
- Construction
These run for 2 years with pupils attending college for one afternoon each week.
You will be able to have an insight of one of these industries and gain a Level 1 qualification
These Vocational courses are an exiting way to learn and gain work experience at the same time.

Work Placement
The department works closely with EBP and offers a variety of work placements available to Y10 during 2 weeks work experience in July.
The school also offers a limited number of extended work placements- up to 3 days a week for six weeks- for selected pupils only.

The New Diplomas
Saint Edmund's is part of the Portsmouth 14-19 Consortium working towards the delivery of the New Diplomas.
