The PE department have 3 new staff
Mr Dunston, Mr Buss and Mrs Phillips.
All 3 have settled in very well and are keen to continue to raise the amount of pupils participating in activities.
Extra- curricular activities continue on site and at Temeraire and are well supported by pupils. New activities of dance and aerobics have started after school, while the traditional games continue off-site. Circuits after school on a Friday is close to bursting point with approximately 40 pupils attending
The PE GCSE course continues to be successful with 2 groups now being run in year 10. The GCSE results in 2007 increased significantly to 73% A*-C. The year 10 who entered GCSE short course a year early passed with 94% A*-C.
Could pupils who wish to represent the school in any activity ensure that all medical forms are completed and returned to the school PE department.

Year 10 / 11 GCSE have completed their GCSE practical exam, with all pupils passing most with B grade and above.
Lucy Mills has been selected for Hampshire Under 16’s Hockey Squad.
Kirsty Harkness has been selected for Hampshire Swimming Squad.
So close yet so far! Years 10 and 11 reached the semi-finals of the Portsmouth Cup. Sadly, both teams lost.
Rugby – the Year 8 team represented Portsmouth in the English Schools Developing Schools Competition. They performed brilliantly, losing a place in the final on try count back.
Pupils are reminded that the winter sports have now finished and to check the newsletter and notice board for summer sports activities.

Past Highlights / Reports on Events
Year 11 football team were selected to represent Portsmouth in the English Schools’ Football Association Cup – first match against Purbrook Park. This follows a successful season last year. Good Luck boys!!!
Football Results:
Year 9 – won the Hampshire Cup
Year 10 – played two games, won one lost one.
Year 11 – played three games, won one, lost one, drawn one.
Sarah Hope has been selected for Portsmouth Under 16s girls’ football trial.

Current Highlights / SoW / Events / Pupil work
Year 10 pupils are following short course GCSE PE or Dance Leaders / Sports Leaders in their core PE lessons.
All pupils will follow a module of First Aid in KS4 and will have the opportunity to take a Life Saving Award.
Future Highlights / SoW / Education Visits
Tracksuits and PE kit. Only St Edmund’s tracksuits may be worn for PE lessons and School matches. Hopefully, all pupil have had the opportunity to order their uniform and as soon as we are informed that all outstanding kit has arrived, no other clothing may be worn.
All pupils must participate in every lesson, with PE kit – even if ill / injured. Any concerns, please ring Mr Morgan.
In exceptional circumstances pupils may bring a non-uniform kit, providing a note is given explaining the problem
