CAREERS PROGRESSION TO HIGHER EDUCATION
Physical Education GCSE is accepted by all UK Colleges and also could be a beneficial stepping stone to the GNVQ Leisure and Tourism Course or to Advanced Level
Physical Education.
In the upper school the activities offered depend on the availability of staff and facilities, but normally include the following: Hockey; Football; Basketball; Netball; Volleyball; Striking Games; Tennis; Swimming (Life-saving and Personal Survival); Multi-gym; Badminton; Aerobics.
There will be an opportunity for you to gain the Sports Leaders Award and a
first aid certificate.
In general, you will be given an opportunity to select a choice of activities each term but you will have to specialise in a minimum of two activities over Year 10 and 11,
one of which must be a game.
Please note that some activities will be new which may be pursued outside school, in clubs or as an individual.
Overall, you will be made aware of the need for all-round fitness, fair play, co-operation with others and maintaining your kit to high standards.
