Mass

Mass is celebrated in the Chapel on Thursday lunchtime by Fr Sean Tobin from St Colman’s with St Paul’s Church.

All are welcome!

Bereavement

Please notify the school when a pupil suffers a bereavement. The Reception staff will notify the pastoral leader/head of learning and the school chaplain, they will support your child during this time of loss.

The chapel is a quiet place for pupils to pray and reflect on the life of the person they have lost. If the family and pupil want a mass said for the deceased person it will be arranged in the chapel, usually Thursday lunchtime, and will be celebrated by Fr Sean Tobin.

You can always ring the Chaplain directly on 02392 823766 ext 2602 if you need to discuss anything connected with a bereavement.

Acorn listening course

Acorn listeners are a Christian organisation who voluntarily give their time to be a ‘listening ear’ for others.

If you go to the Cathedral, and many other churches in the area, you will have seen Acorn listeners. It has always been run by adults for adults.

Acorn has recently introduced training for pupils in schools.

The Chaplain and Mary Ellen Donnelly- who works with the Catholic youth in Portsmouth- are now qualified to train pupils to be listeners for other pupils.

Fourteen year 9 pupils have been selected to be trained at the Cathedral on July 2nd. They will be assigned to year 7 tutor groups as ‘Guardian Angels’ in September, and will be available once a week in the chapel to be listeners for any other year group who may need someone to talk to.
