Graphic Products provides pupils with the opportunity to creatively design and make original graphic products whilst learning about:

Processes & Manufacture.
Materials & Component.
Design & Market Influences.
Techniques & Processes.
Use of ICT.
Paper & Card Engineering.
Environmental, Social and Cultural Issues.

What is a Graphic Product?

Graphic Products are all around you! From packaging, pop-up books, board games, CDs and logo design to scale models for architectural buildings and huge cinema promotional stand-ups!

Preparation: prepares learners to make informed decisions about further learning opportunities and career choices.

Independent learners: helps students to develop skills in decision making, creativity, and critical analysis through individual and collaborative working.

Creativity: enables students to be inspired, moved and challenged by following a broad, coherent, satisfying and worthwhile course of study, which also gives an insight into related sectors, such as:

Architecture.
Manufacturing.
Advertising.
Packaging Design.
Brand Consultation.
Graphic Design.
Graphic Product Design.
Art Direction.
Technical Illustration.

Key Stage 3 content (Years 7-9)

What will I design, study and make?

 

Year 7: Technical Drawing

Students learn key technical drawing skills including 1 point perspective, 2 point perspective, orthographic projection and isometric projection

 

Year 8: Special Edition Pop-Up CD Case

Students are introduced to the importance of product analysis before designing and making a Special Edition CD case. They are also introduced to nets and pop-up paper engineering.

 

Year 9: Glider Project

Students design and make a card or foam glider using a specification. They build on their product analysis skills and focus on the importance of function and designing for a client.
